    The Long Island Senior Softball Association (LISSA) is a Not For Profit organization comprised of players 60 years of age and older from Nassau County, Suffolk County, Brooklyn and Queens.
    Our beautiful playing fields are located throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
    There are currently approximately five hundred players representing 26 teams who play double headers twice a week from May through September.
    Most of the players are former high school and college stars who have discovered their own personal 'fountains of youth'.
    LISSA welcomes new players who want to play again on the field of dreams to recapture the glory of their youth, who are willing and able to get out there and improve the quality of their life.
    We understand that at our age almost everyone has a physical challenge, whether it's a sore back, a trick knee, or aching hands...as a matter of fact one of the common ways players greet each other is "My, you're limping much better today".
    If you can hit but have trouble running we allow courtesy runners to replace you after you reach base;
    If you can hit but can't throw or catch, we allow players to play only as a designated hitter.
    Safety rules are in effect including the use of double first bases and home plates to avoid dangerous contact.
    Additionally, sliding is prohibited.
    Teams are placed in divisions based on competitive level as well as age (60's and 70's) so there is a spot for anybody who wants to play.

    Long Island Senior Softball officially is played from the first Tuesday in May until the end of August, with playoffs held in September.
    From the middle of September through the middle of November many of our die hard players participate in a Snowflake league,
    From the beginning of December through the end of March the die hardest players participate in an indoor league in Freeport.
    Tryouts and exhibition games start in April.
    Beyond the above, there are regional and national tournaments that many of our star players participate in throughout the year.

    Zone Ball is a new team sport. It's co-ed and non-contact. You play on foot and pass a hand-held ball around in order to take a shot on a centrally located goal. Check out the website for videos and info.
